Postponing Praxis

Published June 8, 2012 10:14 AM by Dusty Richards
It was a painstaking decision, but I have elected to postpone taking the Praxis for the time being. My initial plan was to knock it out before staring my 4th year externship. With the recently revised test, it appears passing rates are not quite as high as they used to be (appears to be an understatement). While I do believe I could pass even today, the move to northwest Arkansas would have left me with a little over a week to prepare.

If I did not pass, it wouldn't be a shot to my ego. Failure is not something I particularly fear. Wasting $130 on the other hand ... Recall back to my entries studying for comprehensive exams. I felt the month-long cramming session was the most beneficial thing I've done as a student. Whether I passed or not, I'm not at the knowledge level I personally feel is necessary to practice effectively. In short, another grueling study session stretched over multiple months can be nothing but a positive.

In other news, I have undertaken an audiology project along with a few pals. I think it will prove to be most useful to students, professionals and anyone else associated with the field. More details to come!
