A Guide to Navigating Genetic Testing

Published June 7, 2012 1:58 PM by Kerri Penno

The AACC's Lab Tests Online recently announced "A Guide to Navigating Genetic Testing", an online overview and resource guide to better understand the rapidly maturing field of genetic testing.

"Genetics is the new frontier in medicine," says George Linzer, executive producer, Lab Tests Online. "We hope in this era of advancing technology and patient empowerment, our articles and links on genetic testing can help provide vital information for taking care of one's own health."

With two in-depth articles on genetic testing and links to various online resources, including the PBS/NOVA program "Cracking Your Genetic Code" and the U.S. Genome Project coordinated with the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health, Lab Tests Online serves as an important resource for people who want to expand their understanding of genetic testing and how it affects them.

"The growth in availability and discussion of genetic testing in recent years is changing the health care landscape and the kinds of decisions that we all may be asked to make," Linzer says. "We are offering an easy-to-use roadmap to an area of medicine that is often difficult to understand, both for patients and professionals."
