Remembering Halloweens Past

Published 02 September 09 03:28 PM
Did you know we had these trick-or-treat Halloween bags?

Halloween's always been my favorite holiday. My family loves horror flicks, haunted houses and the fall, so some of my best memories from growing up were of the time around Oct. 31. My hometown and the surrounding towns all held their trick-or-treat nights on different evenings, so we'd go to three or four of them and come home with bags and bellies stuffed full of candy. I loved getting dressed up, although I have not so great memories of a difficult princess hat that kept falling off of my head during the school Halloween parade.

I always needed to have special Halloween bags for my trick-or-treating adventures, and wouldn't settle for the run-of-the-mill sack or the boring plastic bag. My parents would always purchase me one, or I'd take one of the giveaway bags at school to use as I traipsed around the neighborhood.

Needless to say, I got fairly nostalgic when I spotted these new trick-or-treat Halloween bags at ADVANCE Custom Promotions. Printed on bright orange-yellow and complete with three silly pumpkins, this bag would've been right up my alley back in elementary school and, I'll admit it, junior high. The grown-up side of me likes that it's 100 percent recyclable, and the nostalgia just makes me want to put on that ninja costume and hit the streets for trick-or-treat.

The Halloween bags would work great for those more controlled trick-or-treat occasions, such as events in shopping centers or other facilities. If they're given away at one of those events, chances are these Halloween bags will also hit the streets as the trick-or-treaters carry them out to gather sweets around the neighborhood.

Do you have a favorite holiday memory? What was your worst costume ever?

About Lynn Jusinski

After an internship at a home magazine where she wrote about media rooms and $500,000 pool renovations from the comfort of a teeny, cluttered dorm room, Lynn Jusinski graduated from a small college in Pennsylvania and then moved on to write for two weekly newspapers in suburban Philadelphia. A column she penned for the papers won an award from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association. In 2007, Lynn moved back to the magazine world, and worked full-time as an associate editor for ADVANCE for Health Information Professionals. Her work on the magazine led to “Rookie of the Year” honors and a second place feature award in the annual Editorial Excellence Awards presented by Merion Publications Inc. In her free time, Lynn is typically stuck in traffic, shopping, reading, constructing poorly made crafts and hanging out in and around her hometown.
