Did You Know We Had These Body Part Custom Stress Release Toys?

Lend someone a brain.

Last weekend, I got a chance to catch the Body Worlds exhibit at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. This installation dealt with the brain, and if you're not familiar with Body Worlds, it can get kind of creepy. The exhibit's composed of real human body parts and entire human bodies. The intact human bodies have the skin removed, and you can see all the cool stuff that lurks beneath. The figures were shaped into active poses, and there was a woman doing yoga, a man suspended by his arms from gymnastics rings, a pair of figure skaters and more.

There's definitely an ick factor, but after a few courses in human physiology and some pre-med work back in college, I've cut open my share of dead stuff and don't really get sensitive about that sort of thing. I gladly stepped up at Body Worlds to hold the liver and grip the disk of flesh that was formerly part of a whole human arm. Throughout the exhibit, I just kept wondering about what was inside of me, and as we'd walk through the glass exhibit cases, examining swollen livers and normal lungs, slices of brains and intestines invaded with tumors, I'd catch myself reaching down to pat my stomach, looking closely at the tendons in my wrist or staring down at my toes, thinking of what everything might look like and swearing a healthier lifestyle.

At the end of the exhibit, as in pretty much any museum, you're shuffled along past the end point to the gift shop, and I sifted through books and grasped at T-shirts. In a few baskets near the back, they had body part stress toys, and I instantly recognized them as very similar to the items we carry at ADVANCE Custom Promotions. Tiny livers and kidneys were piled, and I spotted a heart that's likely the size of my own heart. Because a lot of the focus was on the brain and its contributions to overall health, the Body Worlds exhibit taught about stress, as well, so the stress toys tied in well.

When I got to searching out all of the body part custom stress release toys we feature at ADVANCE Custom Promotions, I was pretty surprised. We have a ton! Here's a list, and please forgive the cheesy sayings:

Pssst. Next month (April) just happens to be Stress Awareness Month, and these body part custom stress release toys could tie into some type of stress-related promotion. Not a stressful promotion, but a stress-related one.

About Lynn Jusinski

After an internship at a home magazine where she wrote about media rooms and $500,000 pool renovations from the comfort of a teeny, cluttered dorm room, Lynn Jusinski graduated from a small college in Pennsylvania and then moved on to write for two weekly newspapers in suburban Philadelphia. A column she penned for the papers won an award from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association. In 2007, Lynn moved back to the magazine world, and worked full-time as an associate editor for ADVANCE for Health Information Professionals. Her work on the magazine led to “Rookie of the Year” honors and a second place feature award in the annual Editorial Excellence Awards presented by Merion Publications Inc. In her free time, Lynn is typically stuck in traffic, shopping, reading, constructing poorly made crafts and hanging out in and around her hometown.
