announced today that he won't be seeking the spot any longer, and stated that he doesn't want to be a "distraction." He asked the president to withdraw the nomination, and Obama accepted. Daschle has dealt with tax troubles and
The New York Times also pointed out that he's
had dealings with major players in the health care industry, such as UnitedHealth Group and the Mayo Clinic.
