Strategizing Around the Board
I read an interesting article the other day about the emergency room (ER) staff at Bristol Hospital in Bristol, Conn. Staff members who played a board game simulating a 24-hour cycle at the hospital found that managers produce better results working collegially than when they care only about their own piece of the bigger health care system. Developing strategies is more effective than just handling a series of crises, the article said.
The decision-making board game, "Friday Night at the ER" was developed by a consultant at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
