Breaking News -- GOP VP Pick

Published August 29, 2008 1:12 PM by Frank Irving

The Associated Press (AP) reported less than 10 minutes ago that John McCain has selected Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate. Palin has been governor less than two years and reportedly has favor among social conservatives.

Palin, 44, is the mother of five children, the youngest of whom was born in April with Down Syndrome, according to the AP report.

In an e-mail to supporters, McCain called Palin, the first female governor of Alaska, "a trailblazer and a reformer."
