Are Poll Results Skewed?

Published September 26, 2008 11:16 AM by Frank Irving

I heard an interesting comment from a radio host this morning questioning the accuracy of election polls. He noted that polls are typically based on phone interviews -- and the numbers called by pollsters are hard lines.

What about the opinions of people who communicate exclusively through cellular or other mobile connection? I know a lot of people who no longer have a hard line. Are the polls reaching that important demographic?

It seems to me pollsters should disclose the percentage of respodents from hard lines. And it would make for lively discussion to compare responses to the same questions from hard-line and mobile respondents.
