I have often thought that there should be some sort of an approved company or system who would collect data from different systems and serve as a single point of interface for groups like ours. For instance, we have a lab interface for orders and results and are bringing two more up for the Ambulatory world - why not have a third party system handle the interfaces and patient data aggregation and then funnel that back to us or any other party who has a valid reason to see it for that patient. When I worked for the County of Santa Cruz and we went live with Epic we used Axolotl for this reason.
