Nurses don't learn everything they know from books. It's often the clinical experiences that help polish their skills and move their careers forward. Here, Tonya Bryant, LPN, shares some personal stories that have shaped her professional nursing career.

About Tonya Bryant

A licensed nurse since 2004, Tonya Bryant, LPN, is a graduate of the Medical Careers Institute, Richmond, VA, where she obtained a PN diploma. Currently on staff at Colonial Heights (VA) Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, her nursing experience includes med/surg, home health, pediatrics and psychology.

A mother of three daughters and a freelance journalist, Bryant also holds an associate’s degree in arts and sciences from Southside Virginia Community College, Alberta, as well as a nurse’s aide certificate. She was a member of the National Technical Honor Society while in PN school and the honor society (Phi Theta Kappa) at Southside.

She’s been published in ADVANCE for LPNs and other publications.
