Meet CRKP, the New Superbug
It seems we hear about a new "superbug" in the media on an ongoing basis. So I wasn't surprised to see
this video on World News with Diane Sawyer last week. The video profiles a dangerous new superbug named carbapenem-resistant
Klebsiella pneumoniae, or CRKP for short, that's showing up in increasing numbers in hospitals and nursing homes.
To learn more about just how much of a threat CRKP poses, I Googled it and came across this article from TIME Magazine's Web site, which is a Q&A with a superbug expert, and explains a great deal about the origins of the bug and what you should do if you suspect it in your nursing home.
