ADVANCE Outlook: Lab Professionals

Submit Your Lab Week Nominations!

Published January 14, 2009 4:05 PM by Matthew T. Patton

Here is your chance to promote your profession by nominating your facility or coworker for the 2009 ADVANCE NMLPW Laboratory Professional and Laboratory of the Year awards, sponsored by Aureus Medical Group, LabCorp, NYU Langone Medical Center, North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, Cellnetix, Spectra Laboratories, Spectrum Laboratory Network, NewYork-Presbyterian and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

As if national recognition and renewed motivation wasn't enough incentive, we're offering cash prizes (BIGGER THAN EVER!). The winning laboratory facility will take home $1,000 and a commemorative plaque. The winning laboratorian nets $500 and a commemorative plaque. And there are prizes to be won just by nominating a facility or coworker. If you nominate a winner, we'll give you a $35 gift certificate to the ADVANCE Healthcare Shop.

When nominating a laboratory, consider how the staff improves employee and patient satisfaction; participates in community outreach events; encourages innovative programs; goes above and beyond to make a difference; and fosters teamwork and good staff relations.

When nominating a laboratory professional, consider how the person improves the work environment, patient satisfaction and relations with medical teams; adjusts to change and copes with difficult times; supports other lab professionals; goes above and beyond to make a difference; and if he pursues continuing education, certification and learns new techniques. All entries should be no longer than 500 words. The deadline to enter is Feb. 16. The winning essays, along with photos, will be featured in the April 20 issue of ADVANCE for Medical Laboratory Professionals.
