Shaping the Future
This afternoon, President Lynette Savaloja, SCT(ASCP); and President-Elect Don Simpson, PhD, MPH, CT(ASCP)CM, moderated a discussion about the future of the profession. The issues were not new, but those that have faced cytology for the past couple of years: declining cyto programs and enrollment, reimbursement issues and an uncertainty of what the future will look like.
The unified message from both leaders and from those commenting was that cytotechs need to stand up and make their voices heard to be able to shape that future in a way that will benefit the profession and make it a lasting, rewarding and crucial field within the scope of healthcare.
