Dispatches From The Reporter's Notebook: ASM's Exhibit Hall

Published May 19, 2009 8:05 PM by Matthew T. Patton

During a busy day in the exhibit hall, ADVANCE asked some folks at ASM why they decided to come to the 109th General Meeting in Philadelphia:

  • Leslie Lynch, Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, NJ: "I like the see the up and coming methodology in the lab today."
  • Dawn Cottrillo-LaRocca, Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, NJ: "I like to see new technology compared with what we already have in our facility and the advances in technology. The exhibit hall gives you a chance to see something different compared with what you are used to seeing."
  • Carol Miller, Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre De Grace, MD: "We like to keep abreast of all of the new technology."
  • Amy J. Reese, assistant professor of biology, Cedar Crest College, Allentown, PA: "My reasons for attending are multifold. I like to stay connected to the field, particularly in my research area of fungal microbiology. It's also a great way to 'spy' on what everyone else in microbiology is doing. It keeps me current on what's important for teaching."
