Cryo-Cell Announces Collaboration With Cryopraxix Cryobiology
Cryo-Cell International Inc., Oldsmar, FL, a stem cell innovation company, announced a research and development collaboration agreement with Cryopraxix Cryobiology Ltd., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a global stem cell banking and research company.
Through the partnership, Cryopraxis will be able to conduct clinical studies using Cryo-Cell's proprietary C'elle menstrual stem technology (MenScs) to identify potential future diagnostic and therapeutic uses in endometriosis and stress urinary incontinence in women.
C'elle service is the only service that allows women to collect and cryopreserve menstrual flow containing adult stem cells for future utilization by the donor or possibly their relatives, according to the press release. The process is similar to that of umbilical cord blood stem cells.
Endometriosis is usually diagnosed through laparoscopic procedures that are painful and invasive for the patient. The new clinical studies will pave way for a new area of research that will help develop a new and non-invasive way to test for the disease. Using Cryo-Cell's C'elle system, the study hopes to be able to diagnose patients based on analyses of their menstrual blood stem cells. Cryopraxis will also use C'elle stem cells to develop therapies for female stress urinary incontinence.
