AACC Unveils New Lab Tests Online Web site

Published July 29, 2009 3:12 PM by Caitlin Maloney

The AACC, a professional society dedicated to improving healthcare though laboratory medicine, has unveiled a rebranded and resigned Lab Tests Online Web site. After 9 years and more than 200 million page views, the AACC finally revealed the change at the 61st Annual Meeting for clinical laboratory scientists held in Chicago.

The new brand combines the name of the site with an ancient symbol of medicine, the staff of Aesculapius, which is used in other major medical organization logos.

The rebranding is part of an upgrade that improves on the sites navigation and visual design to enhance user experience. The new site is more easily navigated by using options in each menu to view index listings of articles. The test index also gives alternate names for each item listed because many labs refer to tests differently in certain regions of the country.

The site also features a new font and increased line spacing to make article reading easier. An "expand table" allows the tables to be displayed using the full width of the screen which reduces the need for scrolling and allows the entire table to be seen.

The new Web site was part of AACC's effort to sustain a highly regarded patient resource for laboratory information. New material is continually added and the site is now offered in seven languages by partners in nine countries around the world.
