NIH and Wikipedia Team Up

Published July 29, 2009 1:36 PM by Amanda Koehler

Over a year ago, I wrote a blog about the validity of Wikipedia. In a world where people turn to the Internet for medical information, I believe Wikipedia should do a better job in policing what is written on their Web site.

It seems I may be getting my wish. According to a Washington Post article, the NIH is encouraging 100 of its scientists and writers to edit and write articles on Wikipedia, to make sure Web surfers get accurate health information.

As healthcare workers, do you still use the Internet for healthcare info, or are you more skeptical?

I do use the internet for medical information, but use more reliable sites like the CDC
