ASCP Reveals Video Contest Winners

Published April 26, 2011 12:27 PM by Amanda Koehler

Happy National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week! It's time to celebrate! Bring out the cake, crank up the tunes and let your whole facility know it's your week to shine. Remember to tell those you encounter about what you do and how important your job as a medical laboratory professional is.

Need a fun idea of something to do with your lab? If you've already checked out our Lab Week Tool Kit but still need some more ideas, why not have a "lab movie night?" You can check out all these absolutely fabulously fun videos entered into the ASCP 2011 Taking Center Stage video contest.

Like pop music? Kootenai Health Laboratory, Coeur D'Alene, ID, does an awesome lab-related parody of Ke$ha's "Tik Tok." And Loyola University Health System, Maywood, IL, does a spin on Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" with their own "Put a Label on It."

The American Red Cross-Heart of America Region takes some cues from Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park in its video, while Aurora Medical Center, Summit, WI, uses a Star Wars theme. Additionally, Billings (MT) Clinical Lab employees spoof Mission Impossible in their video.

Glencoe (MN) Regional Health Services lab professionals show how they are superheros of the laboratory in their comic book-themed video. Kaiser Permanente, South Bay, CA, has a training video with some great slapstick comedy about what laboratory assistant Aaron should not do in the lab. And the Sacred Heart Health System, Pensacola, FL, video takes an old movie feel and adds in some pretty hilarious elements.
