"WHOA what a heck is this big o' thing on my sputum gram stain...? (changed to 10x) WHOA, WHOA, it's STRONGYLOIDES!!" This really happened to me during the very first year of working as an MT in California.  The cool thing is that I KNEW exactly what it was since I was fresh out of school.  The patient was positive for strongyloides in O&P also.  It was kept as a great study slide where I did the training and worked.
