If you're not following us on Facebook, you're missing a lot of fun feedback. If you are, keep following and spread the word! The conversations are far from over.

We asked Facebook fans: Fill in the blank: I love ____ patients.

Here are selected responses, copied verbatim without editing:

  • Some of these responses are hilarious. I like intelligent patiients.
  • Friendly.
  • No contact with.
  • great-at-baking. Our providers share the baked goods their patients bring with us especially during holidays.
  • to cure
  • helping

We also asked Facebook fans: What is the longest shift you've ever worked?

  • 16 hours.. during the blizzard last winter .. there were a few techs doing 24 hours !
  • ‎72 hours in a hurricane shelter. Tried to take cat naps but that did not work out too well. I was most definitely running on empty.
  • ‎16 hrs. it was christmas which meant i was there by myself for at least 12 hrs and the day was filled with cross matches, CSF analysis, positive blood cultures...and then the chemistry analyzer went down. oh and did i mention that i had only "officially" been an MLT for a month.
  • 16 hours over night shift without a phleb & then stayed through the day to deal with an inspector!
  • 16 hrs during a blizzard, but @ least there was 1 other tech & a phleb
  • I was at the hospital for a computer go live from 10 AM Saturday until 11 AM Sunday, went home until 3 and was there until about midnight I think. The worst part was that I didn't get any extra overtime on Sunday from 3-12 because I went home Sunday morning and it started a new week. Lesson learned there!
  • 24 hrs-during a typhoon...
  • Well, I've workedmy fair share of 12 hours shifts but when I had 2 med tech jobs, I worked 19 days straight many times! The only good thing about that was the money! LOL!
  • 16 hours September 11-12, 2001. 16 hour shifts as well the next 2 days. I worked for a blood bank that's a part of America's Blood Centers, and blood donations soared.
  • 26 hours working on Y2K doing the LIS
  • It was a "regular" 8 hour midnight shift, but seemed a lot longer. I was the only tech on duty and had a hellacious night with codes and traumas, blood bank and other stats, yada yada. I was so relieved when it came time for the 4 am phlebot to arrive. Finally, help at last. But she didn't show. I was desperate and called her at home. When I laid into her for being late, she simply replied, "You forgot to set your clock back." Aaarrrggghhh! It was daylight savings and I had another hour of this nightmare!
  • 16 hours due to computer LIS failure
  • 20 hrs , Sep 11-13 I don't need to explain why. Was working for a blood bank.
  • 120 hours during and after hurrican Ike in Houston, tx
  • 27hours
  • I lived at a rural hospital a day before and one week after hurricane rita
