Facebook Feedback: Pay Cuts and Cancer

Published November 16, 2011 2:41 PM by Kelly Wolfgang

If you're not following us on Facebook, you're missing a lot of fun feedback. If you are, keep following and spread the word! The conversations are far from over.

We asked Facebook fans: Do you believe there will ever be a cure for cancer?

Here are selected responses, copied verbatim without editing:

  • unfortunately no... there is too much money in the treatment, they dont really want to cure.
  • No, there will never be a cure thanks to the drug companies. If we are not sick, there is no money to be made. No matter how far technology advances, there are some things that will never change. Unfortunately, we the people, allow this to continue, so we're kind of doing it to ourselves.
  • No. And I think its a waste of money. If there was a cure, they would've found one by now.
  • I think the cure is prevention!
  • I would like to hope so.
  • I SURE HOPE SO!!!
  • No, as long there is profit involved. For researches/pharma industry is good business to keep people sick.
  • NO
  • No
  • No, because there are too many variables.
  • Yes, I believe that there is already a cure, but think of all the money that they'd loose if they actually brought it out. Life is much more than money....after all...you can't take one single dime of it with you when you leave here.
  • Yes but pharma and fda is controlin the billion dollar industry. But with more people w cancer the more the profit fr pharma. Bogus money given for research.

We also asked Facebook fans: Would you take a pay cut to help keep a coworker on the job?

  • At this point, I would work merely for health benefits (medical, dental, vision)...no monetary pay.
  • Probably
  • Nope!
  • Depends on who
  • I'm going to have to say no.
  • Depends on the coworkrFacebook Feedback
  • Nope...
  • Nope
  • Depends but mostly yes
  • No
  • To keep a good tech or phleb yes. I would also forfeit a raise if administration would just let us hire some full time people.
  • That is a tough one. Guess I don't know what I would do unless I was actually confronted with this situation.
  • I think I would depend on the coworker, Are they good at their job or not?
  • Yeah, that's a tough one...it would depend on the person/situation...
  • We had to cut hours to avoid cutting someone. I had vacation pay I could use but the new people had it rough. Bean counters need to visit the departments and get to know the schedule and true workload they are trying to squeeze.
  • You can't cut a lab tech's pay much more or we will be at minimum wage!
