'HIMSSanity' Takes Over Twitter
As HIMSS 2012 wraps up, I must say I am really impressed with how active attendees have been online and what a great job the conference organizers did at connecting attendees, exhibitors and those of us who were watching the conversation from a distance.
According to a post on the HIMSS Tumblr yesterday, the conference had record-breaking attendance with 36,526 attendees and 1,123 exhibitor. That's no coincidence--the importance of health information management systems is increasingly evident, and lab managers, physicians, executives and health information managers know the importance of exploring the tools available and implementing systems that will ultimately lead to better patient care.
Speaking of that HIMSS Tumblr--do take a few minutes to check it out. It's really well done--informative, but with a sense of humor. I would love to see something similar from the lab industry conferences in the future. Dubbed "Power to the Paperless," the Tumblr blog and active Twitter conversation highlighted how conference attendees are going paperless in their daily lives.
The #HIMSS12 hashtag on Twitter has been nearly impossible to keep up with as attendees shared short quotes from sessions, colleagues reconnected, exhibitors promoted special giveaways at their booths, and everyone wanted to be part of the conversation-so much so that a secondary hashtag, #HIMSSanity, was adopted midway through the week.
