Happy National Volunteer Week

Published April 16, 2012 9:27 AM by Kelly Bocich
Volunteering for a cause you care about is a great way to stay involved in the community, bring attention to deserving groups or causes, and often, renewing appreciation for what you have. April 15-21 is National Volunteer Week, and we'd love to hear about how you get involved. Do you regularly volunteer your time with a particular group? What do you do? We'd love to hear, either in the comments section below, or via email to kbocich@advanceweb.com. How has volunteering changed you or your perspectives?

From time to time, we'll hear about an organization that allows employees to use a certain amount of their paid time for volunteer work. What a wonderful idea! We're all busy, at work and at home, and it's easy for something like volunteering to fall by the wayside. Giving employees designated time to get involved in a cause of their choice is a great way for individuals and organizations to give back to their communities. Does your facility offer such a perk?

If you're looking for a way to get involved, check out http://www.volunteermatch.org/. It allows you to search your location and keywords (mentoring, animals, etc.) to find the perfect fit for your skills and interest.
