Have you checked out our free webinars schedule lately? Upcoming topics include histology workflow, vitamin D testing, preanalytic quality control, and top trends for the coming year.
Workflow Consulting for the Histology Lab
Tuesday, November 13, 2012, 12:00 p.m. Eastern
Errors in the anatomic pathology lab may become life altering. Faster turnaround demands may create chain of custody and case integrity issues with opportunities for misdiagnosis. Fortunately the fundamental principles of Lean Six Sigma can be applied to the manual histology workflows to achieve reduced turn-around times, increased overall operational efficiency and drastically reduced opportunity for patient sample mislabeling. This overview presentation will cover key principles needed to set your lab up for success.
Vitamin D Deficiency: A Spectrum of Illness
Wednesday, November 28, 2012, 1:00 p.m. Eastern
Measurement of vitamin D levels followed by replacement should be part of routine health screening and lifestyle intervention. Vitamin D is a steroid hormone that requires sunlight for activation. The industrialization of our society has reduced our sun exposure below the critical minimum needed to maintain normal vitamin D levels. Protection against sun exposure further suppressed vitamin D levels. Low vitamin D levels accompanied by physical inactivity and a diet high in calories and low in nutrition combine to produce a steady rise in obesity, hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, autoimmunity and cancer.
Preanalytic Phase Quality Assessment
Wednesday, December 5, 2012, 1:00 p.m. Eastern
This webinar will explore the CLIA regulations regarding the QA requirements for the preanalytic phase of testing, and how you can meet those requirements. Emphasis will be placed on patient and specimen identification, and specimen handling. Those who attend will be able to list the CLIA requirements for preanalytic system quality assessment, understand the importance of proper patient and specimen identification, provide examples of proper specimen handling and processing, and state what actions are needed for specimen referral and rejection.
Stay tuned for details on our December 12 webinar on trends to watch for in 2013!
