Before You Get On the Botox Bandwagon

Published January 10, 2008 2:24 PM by Michelle Perron

An article published in Health magazine in December calls attention to the problems that can occur when insufficiently prepared and trained personnel administer nonsurgical skin treatments.

Although nurse practitioners are not mentioned in the article (which has a decidedly opinionated tone and should have been labeled an essay), I think it's important for NPs to take note of the facts brought to light. As with any medical procedure, nonsurgical cosmetic interventions require thorough training, education and practical experience. Many options are available for nurse practitioners to receive hands-on training in everything from laser hair removal to microdermabrasion. Support your profession by choosing training programs that are provided by nurse practitioners. These skilled NPs advertise their seminars in the calendar section of ADVANCE for Nurse Practitioners. Check them out!
