NP’s Book Tells How She Did It

Published March 13, 2008 10:27 AM by Jill Rollet

Family nurse practitioner Anne Boston Parish, owner of Queen Street Clinic in Alexandria, Va., has just published a book outlining the secrets of her clinic's success. Confronting America's Health Care Crisis: Establishing a Clinic for the Medically Uninsured (AuthorHouse 2008) recounts how Parish started her clinic with a mortgage on her home and how she manages to keep it open without government funding.

Parish founded Queen Street Clinic in 2001 with the conviction that prevention is the key to effective health care — even for patients who don't have insurance. In 2003, Washingtonian magazine named her one of 2002's Washingtonians of the Year. Read more about Parish and Queen Street in this 2005 interview with ADVANCE.

Jill-

Thank you for sharing my story and my new book. In this year with a presidential re-election, and so much focus on politicians; I am hopeful health care reform will be in the forefront.

I have designed one working solution and have proven that clinics can funtion without governmental funds. It just takes much time and hard work...but that says it all for our profession...we are the heart and soul of health care...and let us never forget it...

Never, never, never give up--Winston Churchill

Best regards,

Anne Boston Parish
