Rally in Tally - Tomorrow!
Tomorrow's the day! The Florida Nurse Practitioner Network (FNPN; www.fnpn.org) and about 250 NPs have packed their bags and are ready to head to Tallahassee to support legislation to help them provide full access to care for patients and reduce healthcare costs. The group will travel by bus to hold a rally tomorrow, March 24th, at Waller Park near the Florida Capitol to support the introduction of what they call a patient care access bill.
NPs have been prescribing controlled substances safely for many years, and all but two states - Florida and Alabama - allow CS prescribing by law. The proposed bill will relieve patients seeing NPs from repeated office visit for necessary medication that are regulated by DEA.The rally was sponsored by the FNPN and the 28 county grassroots NP groups around the state.FNPN will also visit legislators to discuss their goals. Jean Aertker, NP, who did much of the work organizing the rally, says that Rep. Matt Hudson from Naples plans to announce the visiting group from the floor of the House. "They are listening to us," she says.
Stay tuned for more as we follow their efforts!
