Lynn Schiff and Renee Dahring are nurse practitioners who understand what NPs want in their working lives. As advocates for nurse practitioners and job hunting experts, they share tips for landing that perfect position - and avoiding the one that will turn into a headache later.

Lynn Schiff is president and owner of Advanced Practice Solutions, PA. She received her BA in nursing in 1989 from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn. She enjoys pediatrics, and her early nursing career included working at Children’s Hospital and Clinics in St. Paul as a float nurse throughout the hospital and later, emergency room nurse. Fulfilling her long-time dream of becoming a nurse practitioner, she attended the University of Minnesota and received her master of science degree in nursing and board certification as a family practice nurse practitioner in 1997. She founded Advanced Practice Solutions, PA, in 1998 as an alternative employment option that suited her growing family.

Renee Dahring received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from North Dakota State University. In 2000, she earned her master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and was reborn as a family nurse practitioner. She currently works as an NP in various correctional settings and teaches at a local community college. She has more than 5 years of experience in recruiting and helping NP’s find their dream jobs and conducts workshops on resume writing and interviewing. In addition to being a self-proclaimed expert on job seeking, she continues her endless quest to promote latex allergy awareness.
