Power Plate for Health and Fitness

Power Plate works using vibration technology where energy is transferred from the vibrating platform to the body. This mechanical stimulus produces a stretch reflex which, depending on the selected frequency, results in muscles vigorously contracting 30 to 60 times per second. Each vibration set is performed no longer than 30, 45 or 60 seconds in length.

Power Plate exercises increase the production of regenerative and repair hormones, strengthen bone tissue, improve lymphatic drainage and increase metabolic rate. All this results in more strength, speed and stamina, increased flexibility and controlled fat reduction. These exercises are a good remedy for osteoporosis, pain reduction, improved collagen production, reduced lower back pain, and rehabilitated injuries and ailments.

Our clinic has been offering Power Plate for more than 9 years. Ten- to 20-minute sessions twice a week are recommended, with a primary focus on muscle toning. A great percentage of our patients who regularly use the device claim they are amazed by the benefit of cellulite reduction. I feel patients are benefiting in reduction of skin laxity as well - probably due to some collagen stimulation. 

First-time users of the Power Plate are startled for the first minute by the amount of vibration. The amount and length of time of vibration are adjustable. The learning curve is very short. Within a few minutes, patients learn exercises that will isolate the muscle groups they want to target.
