&lt;p&gt;Children do not have much motivation to stay in school and prepare for the future. &amp;nbsp;They don't see a future any different than what they are experiencing. &amp;nbsp;The quality, depth and currency of knowledge has been lacking in nursing programs, so the nursing care and patient teaching was not good. &amp;nbsp;Health problems in Haiti are similar to other developing countries. &amp;nbsp;Hypertension, diabetes, cancer, diarrheal diseases, malnourishment, and communicable diseases. &amp;nbsp;Nurses have not been involved in patient and family teaching. &amp;nbsp;Now that the first 4-year baccalaureate nursing program has been started and the first class has graduated, people are realizing what contributions nursing can make to the Haitian people to improve health and prevent illness. &amp;nbsp;The Dean of the FSIL school of nursing says that Haiti's solutions are education, education, and education. &amp;nbsp;More anon.&lt;/p&gt;
