John Elder Robison made that a little easier when he published Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger's, a series of short stories detailing his life as an individual with, but not diagnosed with, Asperger's syndrome.

ADVANCE recently had the opportunity to talk to Robison gaining a unique patient perspective and understanding of the syndrome. Check out the article and photos of Robison beginning Jan. 5 at www.advanceweb.com/ot.

In his first bid for gold, Pistorius beat out Americans Marlon Shirley, Brian Frasure and Jerome Singleton in the 100m. This was Pistorius' most difficult race and as if to prove it, he struggled from the start, not pulling ahead until the final second. But pull ahead he did, winning gold with a time of 11.17 seconds. Singleton finished with 11.20 for silver and Frasure 11.50 for bronze.

Shilrley, the defending champion, fell several seconds in and was unable to finish the race.

In swimming, Du Toit won her first gold on Sunday, completing the 100m butterfly in 1 minute, 6.74 seconds. This sets a new world record for Du Toit's disability class.

Both Pistorius and Du Toit are primed for more golds as the games continue.
LYRICS

I woke up this morning
I couldn't even get out of bed
I stumbled on my feet to brush my teeth
and I didn't have the strength...to find my sink

(chorus)
It sounds like I need some OT
It sounds like I need some OT
It sounds like I need some occupational therapy

So they dragged me out of bed
To do some therapy activity
To bake a cake and fold some clothes
They told me I can't go home
unless I'm safe when I'm alone
It looks to me instead...that someone is just lazy

(chorus)
It sounds like I need some OT
It sounds like I need some OT
It sounds like I need some occupational therapy

So if you find yourself putting on your t-shirt wrong
or sometimes wondering if you've left your stove on
Lets make it very clear...You don't need physical therapy

(chorus)
It sounds like you need some OT
It sounds like you need some OT
It sounds like you need some occupational therapy
lalalalalalalalala

Now wait a minute, is there a speech therapist in the house?

(chorus)
It sounds like you need some OT
It sounds like you need some OT
It sounds like you need some occupational therapy

Sometimes we forget about that other therapy
we always seem to think physical therapy
but without OT, people are going to think...and would be stinky

So thank you, OT
For all you do, thank you
Thank you, thank you occupational therapy

You need some OT? You know you do!
Who's the vice president?
You need some OT? Your shoelaces are untied
You need some OT? Your fly is open
You need some OT? You know you want some?
You need some OT? You know you do.

What is a blog you ask? Well, it is a "log" kept on the "Web"-a web log. Throw it together and you get "Blog!" Blogs are online, interactive journals. They feature text and images as well as links to other Web sites and blogs. Readers often participate in blogs by leaving comments to posts. (And there are "lurkers" who simply read and move on...and that's OK, too!)

Blogging has grown to become one of the most used features on the Web today. Heck, even the NY Times has a blog on their Web site now! Last I checked Technorati, a recognized authority on what's happening in the world of blogging, there are 108.9 million blogs in existence. Accoring to Technorati, there are 175,000 new blogs every day, and bloggers update their blogs regularly to the tune of over 1.6 million posts per day. That's over 18 updates a second. That's a lot of bloggin' goin' on!

I must stop here and make a confession: I am one of those 108.9 million. I am a blogging dork. I have been one for two years now. It began as a way to keep in touch with my family and friends, most of who live quite far from me. When I began I only had one friend blogging and more often than not my posts went without comments from readers. Back then, my posts probably went without readers for that matter! I treat my blog as a photo journal of sorts. I have this inherent need to always include photos with each and every post. That task has become much easier now that I have my son! And of course, my loved ones now flock to my site to see what Gabriel is up to and how he is changing. My love of blogging finally caught on in our family and in my circle of friends. Today I have a handful of devoted readers, some of which have even created their own personal blogs! I now read those daily, as well as a few other blogs that have made my "must read" list which include mothers, crafters, book lovers, etc. I have found that I am learning a lot from the blogging world, but most importantly I am learning a lot about myself since I am constantly writing down my thoughts and feelings. My blog is my modern day journal.

If you have a blog, what types of things do you blog about? If you don't have a blog, why not? Don't be a "lurker"...share your thoughts with us!
