I am a COTA!

Published March 8, 2013 7:49 PM by Jennifer Preston

I passed the exam!  I am now officially a COTA!  I can't believe it's finally done, that was the last hurdle I had to jump and now I can officially be on my way to my new career.  It's such an awesome feeling to know that there will be no more lectures, no more studying and no more exams.  My time is again my own.  It is weird to sit and watch tv and not feel guilty for not studying.   Now it's time to seriously start looking for a job.  I can't wait to start working and helping people!

Thank you, Tim.  You are right that the learning does not stop after graduation.  In fact, in the 2 weeks I've been licensed I have already acquired 2 CEUs, am attending a conference tomorrow and have registered for another next month.  The learning continues, but at my own pace, which I appreciate.  Thank you again!

Well Jennifer, first off congradulations on passing the exam. However I hate to inform you but just because school is done and you passed the certification exam that does not mean no more lectures, studying or exams. You will need to complete the required amount of CEUs yearly to keep your license. You will need to continue learning about better ways to help your patients, as school was just the groundwork. Yes, it will not be as intense as going to school full time, but never stop learning! Good luck in your career.
