COTA Thoughts

Happy Holidays!

Published December 21, 2007 2:34 PM by Tim Banish
I would like to wish all our AdvanceWeb readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope each and every one has a safe and blessed season.

I will be taking a short break from blogging, but please feel free to continue to leave replies. Check back after the first of the year, and we'll discuss more issues that affect our profession as COTA's.

Good "Thoughts" and Peace to all-

Tim

For years and years and years people have periodically resurrected this topic of a name change.  I would suggest that you might want to research this issue and then do a longer piece on the history of it, as it's not just a matter of finding and substituting a different 'A' word.

Physicians Assistants, as one example, are a profession that seems to have escaped the  impression or concern that using the word 'assistant' conveys something negative or inferior.

There is room for a great many opinions on this and other topics.

Thanks Barry!

It's comments like yours that will keep me going!

I believe they looked at changing the COTA title at one time to OTC but it never made it past the board.

Keep up the great work! I enjoy your articles.

C.o.t.a.'s should stand for associates and not assistants!
