Being a full time mom and full time employee I am always looking for ways to save time and work more efficiently. Recently I have had to do several sensory profiles for children on my case load. I find the profile itself is easy and quick to do but it is the actual scoring and report writing afterwards that takes time. I am a computer person and thought I would do a web search to see if there was a computer program that assisted with the scoring/report writing. To my surprise and delight I not only found an excel sheet that another therapist had put together that would help but I found it on a website that contains a ton of useful information and documents.
The website is called: OT Exchange. You do need to sign up and join but all that is asked is your name and email address and believe me, it is well worth it to join.
The OT Exchange website contains information and documents on: Assistive technology, Checklists/evaluations, Clinic-based, Development, Early childhood, Early intervention, Fine motor, Hand issues, Handwriting, Home-based, Miscellaneous, Motor coordination, Muscle strengthening, Organization, OT forms, PT Forms, School-based, Self-care, Sensory processing, Toys/games/gifts, Visual motor.
There is a "general" area where you can post questions and/or share information, a "classified" area to list items you are looking to buy or sell, post jobs or resumes, a "new products" area where companies can list new products related to pediatrics or professionals and parents can list ideas for products they would like to see companies offer that would be useful to the pediatric population, an "continuing education" area that lists resources for courses, seminars, etc and an "activity exchange" area to list activities you have found to be helpful and fun.
Well, what are you waiting for? *smile* Have I not given you enough information to convince you that this website will help to save you time and supply you with a wealth of information? I, for one, am very excited about my find and can't wait to start exploring it more.
