Tuesday Tidbit - Website Resource & Newsletter
I am always looking for resources that will help me do my job better or give me more insight into the different conditions and developmental delays I work with in Pediatrics. Recently I stumbled upon the Your Therapy Source, Inc website which not only has a wealth of free information, a listing of books and other tools and where they can be purchased, but also offers a monthly newsletter right to your in-box!
Some of the topics in the February newsletter include:
* Pharmacological treatments for spasticity in children with cerebral palsy
* Physical activity and school performance
* The Mozart effect on weight gain in preterm infants
* Information on a case study report of three teens with CP and their use of a specialized video game programmed to help with increased hand function
Wow!! All that in one newsletter AND at the end of the newsletter are activities that you can share with the children you work with. They also offer a link to a variety of down-loadable activities and hand outs ranging in subjects that would be helpful to anyone working in the pediatric environment.
I love when I stumble upon web sites like this one that offer you a wealth of information right at your finger tips but I find that I sometimes can't find what I want when I need it. What I've started doing is to copy the URL of the web sites and articles I find interesting and paste them into an Excel worksheet. This worksheet has "sensory", "fine motor", "oral motor", etc tabs and I just paste the URL into that section with a brief description of what it contains. This way when I need to find something quickly I just open up my Excel worksheet and go to that area and most of the time the link to the article or activity I am looking for is right there! I would be happy to email a blank Excel worksheet set up with the tabs and with the spacing for the URLs and descriptions if anyone would like it. Just message or email me.
If anyone has stumbled upon a website or article they would like to share please let me know and I would be happy to share it here.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you back here again.
