A Must Have Early Intervention Resource!

Published June 19, 2013 1:21 PM by Cecilia Cruse

If you work in EI in any capacity, check out this new video from the Kennedy Krieger Institute.  Entitled Bringing The Early Signs of Autism Spectrum Disorders into Focus, it is the work of Rebecca Landa, Ph.D, CCC-SLP the Director of the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD).  In this 9 minute clip, several simple case scenarios of typically developing toddlers are displayed vs. those showing signs of autism in an easy to understand format.   Released earlier this month and originally developed for Maryland pediatricians, Dr. Landa states …These videos are meant to provide pediatricians with the visual tools necessary to distinguish between the behaviors of children with and without ASD so that we can support healthier learning and development in children on the spectrum as early as possible.”   If you work in a child care or other local/community center why not use this tool for your next in-service, staff instruction or even a parent conference or home program.  I think it’s a super way to get the message across for early identification and intervention.
