From the Archives: My daughter's emerging personality.

Published November 1, 2012 12:39 PM by Devon Alley

In these snippets from the archives, I capture some of the first hints of the sassiness and creativity that would become my daughter's amazing and unique personality.

January 22, 2005:

This afternoon, during my ritual prying-information-out-of-A.-about-her-day, A. sighed, and told me ever-so-sweetly: "Mom, could you stop talking please?"

I shall defer to her wishes.

February 3, 2005:

My daughter is changing her name to Smokey. Seriously. She's even writing it on all of her papers at school. I imagine this is a direct reaction to that whole giving-her-a-name-nobody-can-pronounce thing.
