Decent PA Article from Illinois
The Kane County Chronicle of Illinois discovers the PA profession.
When Karen Peterson visits her doctor’s office, sometimes she sees a physician assistant instead of the doctor himself.
“I feel very good about seeing my PA,” said Peterson, of Batavia. “Physician assistants have a well-rounded education. I’m confident when I see the PA.”
Amy Frazer, one of two physician assistants at Dr. Reeder and Associates in St. Charles, can see as many as 20 patients a day and also goes on rounds at local nursing homes.
She does physical exams, diagnoses illnesses, orders tests, does check-ups, sews up wounds, removes stitches, and writes prescriptions.
“We’re not doctors; we’re mid-level health care professionals,” said Frazer, 29. “I knew I wanted to work in the health care field and help patients, but I didn’t want to be in school that long. The PA route worked best for me.”
This is the type of basic article that was common about 10 years ago. But it's far from the worst PA news article I have ever read.
