Another New PA Program

Published May 15, 2008 11:47 AM by Stephen Cornell

Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., is developing a PA program.

The Clarkson University Board of Trustees this weekend approved moving ahead to establish a master of science degree in physician assistant studies at the Potsdam, N.Y., institution. The University will next submit an application to the New York State Education Department for Regents approval.

Clarkson has started recruiting for the program's chairperson and will implement the necessary steps for national accreditation by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

"We are tremendously excited about this new program," said University President Tony Collins, "which complements our existing doctor of physical therapy program and the excellent working relationship we have already established with many hospitals. It is our hope that graduates of our program will help to fill the severe need for additional medical professionals in northern New York and beyond."
