AAPA Announces Dues Increase

Published June 30, 2008 10:53 AM by Stephen Cornell

The AAPA posted an official announcement of its upcoming dues increase on its Web site on Friday.

The cost of an annual AAPA membership will increase from $215 to $250. The increase takes effect on Sept. 1.

The increase was approved during the HOD's 2008 session, held at AAPA's annual conference in San Antonio. The House of Delegates is made up of 250 AAPA members who are selected by their state society, specialty group, or special interest group to vote on matters of AAPA policy.

Originally, the AAPA Board of Directors (BOD) requested only a $25 increase, but the HOD voted to add $10 to the increase, as the additional funds will allow AAPA to improve its services while it keeps pace with the rapidly rising cost of energy and other daily expenses.

This will be the first increase in AAPA dues in eight years, and I think the increase is reasonable.

I suspect, however, that a lot of PAs will not feel the same way.
