WebMD Physician Assistant Video

Published July 29, 2008 6:14 PM by Stephen Cornell

Dermatology PA Courtney Aldridge and PA educator Dennis Blessing star in this WebMD video about the physician assistant profession.

Physician assistants, or PAs, are part of a fast growing trend in medicine. And they may be the ones you see next time you go to the doctor. Some areas of the country simply don’t have enough doctors, so PAs are starting to have a very healthy impact.

It's not the worst video in the world. But I'm not sure who told WebMD that 50% of PAs go into family medicine.

Hmmm. Well considering the video probably had to stay within a 60 second time frame, I found it quite informative. I would have added statistics (e.g. average PA salary, number of PAs in the US). These are questions people usually ask me about the PA profession. I'm glad to see US getting more exposure, no matter how brief it may be. There still needs to be so much education done about the PA profession. My patients continue to call me "doctor" b/c it's simply easier for them rather than trying to understand the difference between me and my supervisor (the M.D.).

Keep up the great work guys!
