AAPA Joins CDC Campaign
New on the AAPA Web site: the academy has joined the Healthiest Nation Alliance.
The AAPA has an online preview of the upcoming AAPA News article about the campaign.
The goal, according to the Alliance, is to ensure that the country's investments in health care prioritize those three elements "as much as the prioritize access to affordable quality medical care" once conditions occur.
The other founding members of the Healthiest Nation Alliance are the National Association of County and City Health Officials and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.
"Americans are not getting our money's worth of health," CDC Director Julie Gerberding, M.D., said in a statement. "We spend more than any other country on health, but we certainly are not the healthiest nation. We're 37th by some measures, 26th by some measures, but we're not in the top ten on any measure."
