North Carolina College Considers New Physician Assistant Program

Published August 28, 2008 11:37 AM by Stephen Cornell

Campbell University is thinking about developing a PA program, according to the Fayetteville Observer.

BUIES CREEK — Campbell University officials are considering adding a physician assistant degree program in 2011, according to a release from the school.

Physician assistants provide a broad range of health-care services under the direction of a doctor and are able to prescribe medications.

The program would consist of a master’s program in Physician Assistant Studies, which would include basic medical, behavioral and social science; introduction to clinical medicine and patient assessment; supervised clinical practice; and health policy and professional practice issues.

My prediction that the number of PA programs will soon exceed 150 is looking pretty good, I think.
