Georgia PA on Trial
Georgia physician Spurgeon Green, pharmacist Jack Joseph and PA Dorothy Mack are on trial for improper prescribing practices, according to the Macon Sun News.
Was suspended Perry physician Spurgeon Green Jr. a "drug pusher" who used his rural doctor's office to distribute drugs so he could pile up money? Or was he a kind and compassionate practitioner taken advantage of by drug addicts who would lie and fake medical conditions to get a fix?
Those are apparently questions a jury will have to answer, based on arguments from prosecuting and defense attorneys Tuesday in the federal trial of the family health practitioner and certified pain specialist who is accused of prescribing medications that led to the death of several patients.
Also on trial are Dorothy Mack, a former physician's assistant for Green, and Jack Joseph, a licensed pharmacist who once practiced near Green's office in Perry.
All are accused of conspiring to distribute drugs "not for a legitimate medical purpose and outside the usual course of professional practice."
