AAPA Questions Obama and McCain

Published September 25, 2008 11:54 AM by Stephen Cornell

The AAPA sent questionnaires about health care and the physician assistant profession to John McCain and Barack Obama.

Sen. Obama's answers are posted on the AAPA Web site. An excerpt:

Physician Assistants (PAs) are a key part of the solution of providing universal, affordable, high quality, and cost-effective medical care. PAs have assumed vital roles as part of both the generalist and specialist provider base and are critical to delivering health care to patients in community health centers, rural health clinics, and public hospitals across the country.

Sen. McCain apparently has not yet responded to the AAPA questionnaire.

Sen. McCain did not answer questions for SCIENCE, either, while Sen. Obama did.  I just wrote a comment on their comment page about that omission, then saw, scrolling down, that you were also ignored.  It seems science and medicine aren't topics of great importance, insofar as organizations go, to Sen. Mccain's people.  I taught in AZ for a year, then lived next door in N.M. -- that's why I'm writing you a warning:  good luck getting any attention by the McCain administration if it gets into power, and note how you're treated ---before--- the election.  Think you'll be given respect AFTER it?
