PAs and Campaign 2008
With just a few days left before Election Day, have you been wondering whether the PA profession trends red or blue?
A check of the Huffington Post’s FundRace 2008
shows that based on nationwide contributions to presidential candidates, dollar for dollar, PAs support Democrats by a margin of more than 4 to 1.
Plugging “physician assistant” into the “occupation” search box yields results showing that $148,830 was given by people who identified their occupation as “physician assistant” — $28,328 from 42 people to Republicans, and $120,502 from 221 people to Democrats.
The FundRace site explains the source of the data: “All calculations are based on public records filed with the FEC of contributions by all individuals totaling more than $200 (and some totaling less than $200) to a single Republican or Democratic presidential campaign or national committee for the 2004 and 2008 election cycles.”
The contributions also are searchable by address, zip code, city, donor name and employer.
