New West Virginia Physician Assistant Program

Published February 11, 2009 4:46 PM by Stephen Cornell

West Liberty State College in West Liberty, W. Va., is advertising for a physician assistant program director.

This is the first new program I've noticed in a while. Below is a list of schools developing PA programs. There are currently 142 accredited programs, and that number seems almost guaranteed to hit 150 during the next few years.

- West Virginia's West Liberty State College
- New York's Clarkson University
- New York's SUNY Upstate Medical University
- Kentucky's University of the Cumberlands
- Florida's Nova Southeastern University (Jacksonville)
- Tennessee's Lincoln Memorial University
- Wisconsin's Carroll University
- Illinois' Northwestern University
- North Carolina's Campbell University
- Washington's Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences
- Pennsylvania's University of Pittsburgh
- Florida's Keiser University

Somebody must think we really need more programs. I feel that we have over produced PA.s. That is why salary's aren't rising as much as they should
