4. The PA profession should explore with physician education groups the development of a model for advanced standing for PAs who desire to become physicians (sometimes called a "bridge program.")
Not long ago, the mention of a PA-to-physician bridge program seemed taboo within the profession. In just the last year, it has gone mainstream.
Will such a program ever exist? Hard to say. From what I've heard, the physician community is not sold on the idea. But there is enormous popular support within the PA profession.
