Physician Assistant Helps Form Foundation

Published April 20, 2009 11:21 AM by Stephen Cornell

Physician assistant Joyce Nichols is involved in the Lincoln Community Health Center in Durham, N.C., and is quoted today in an article in the Durham Sun-Herald.

The unique part of the article is that Nichols was the first woman to graduate from the Duke University physician assistant program and one of the first female PAs.

"The funds that we receive from [the Department of Health and Human Services] does not cover all of the things we need," said Joyce Nichols, a member of Lincoln's board of directors and a leader of the foundation initiative. "So the foundation was an idea that we came up with to try to serve as a safety net."
