Botox in a Birkin Bag

Published December 1, 2009 10:32 AM by Heather Simons

"Home Improvement," a recent Huffington Post blog entry by Susan Campos, follows a plastic surgery PA at Los Angeles Concierge Aesthetic Medicine, an office frequented by celebrities and typically surrounded by paparazzi. C. Auden Mallas, PA-C, often makes house calls for clients who prefer to schedule botox injections and glycolic peels discreetly.

Campos, who followed Mallas as she visited the estate of a 30-something client who keeps her Botox appointments a secret from even her husband, describes the large, black Birkin bag in which Mallas stores Botox on ice and Restalyne. The procedure is brief and private:

Then the two go up a marble stair case and begin a 20-minute suite of procedures which includes Botox, Restalyne and a glycolic peel. They emerge with big smiles, as they head back down the stairs. "I love it," the patient says, her face a just a little red from the injections. "I never have to sit and wait in a doctor's office and she's amazing."

The appointment, Campos writes, earned Mallas $1,000, the same amount a top Beverly Hills doctor might charge.

Bravo for PA Mallas.  It's nice to see a PA finally get the much deserved recognition.  I have a PA in my practice and couldn't live without him.  More MDs should realize the benefit of having a PA in their practice and understand that it is NOT the same as a nurse or an NP. Someone needs to stress that point them
